To design busbars for high current applications, you must analyze the coupling of electrical, thermal and structural effects of both the material composition and its cross-sectional size to determine the optimal current density distribution. Large Ohmic loss from high current density can result in high temperatures, and high temperature gradients can cause an unacceptable level of thermal stress.
